Disagree with me? Then you cannot possibly believe the Bible!
This may be of interest to some of you. The Patriarchal Complementarians refuse to differentiate Biblical Egalitarianism from common feminism/liberalism. Thus, according to them, every non-PC denies the authority of Scripture. Read about it along with my response here

Oh, I say a loud AMEN to your post. And you stated the problem so clearly. Thank you for speaking up.
ReplyDeleteI affirm the authority of Scripture, but I do not agree with many good people about the PC view. I am thoroughly convinced that the PC crowd likes to throw the f-word (feminism/feminist) and the l-label (liberalism/liberal) at BEs because those labels are the most damning in "our crowd." Well, sometimes I just don't want to be part of that crowd if that's the way they're going to be.
Still, "that crowd" is part of the body of Christ, if I accept their professions of faith (and of course I do, as I hope "they" accept my profession). It grieves me to see that Christians will be so willfully unloving to fellow believers over non-vital issues. So, to separate myself from them is harmful for the body and flies in the face of what Christ clearly tells us: "By this shall men know that you are my disciples, if you have love one for another."
You know, I've been thinking about this more. Someone who thinks that doctrine regarding baptism or eschatology is worth agreeing to disagree about yet affirms that the role of women in the church is something that must be interpreted only one way (i.e., in favor of patriarchy)--that is a person who is more interested in keeping his position of (supposed) superiority and authority than in true doctrine. I find it selfish.
ReplyDeleteAm I being too harsh? Well, I'm sure the insults would fly in from some quarters.
